Worked an all night shift on Thursday so I was home today to play at a time when few people I normally play with are around, so I decided to try grinding some spambush matches solo. The 2 vehicle rule has made a tremendous difference. Kudos to CCP for actually giving us 3 playable modes again!
On a related note: OMG LaZ0rZ!!!1!!1!@11!!!!
The Amarr assault bonus is working perfectly! I melted an entire 4 man team with a single beam. It is difficult to express in words just how freaking satisfying that was.

Depends. I use the ELM on my logi suit since I don't get the bonus. On my Templar assault I naturally use the Templar LR, the bonus still makes it super deadly and I think the whole suit costs me about 5000 ISK, mostly for the assault SMG and armor mods.

Back on topic, yea Ambush is pretty fun nowadays.
Don't need to be too scared of me... yet. I got used to not having the Amarr assault bonus and so I keep turning the beam off too soon! I'm losing a lot of DPS that way. Although, the average Caldari suits do tend to lose their shields even if I look at them funny so maybe you should be a little worried, lol.

WTF are you talking about? I'm a logi, not a tanker. I'm totally fine with removing them completely from ambush but my point is that restricting it to 2 vehicles total has made a big difference.

Which part? That it's fun or the part about the LR? TBH I was surprised I enjoyed it myself.

Lazor rifles melt my shield like a hot knife through butter... I am not a fan. However, because of how well they do their job, I'm thinking about grabbing a basic one and trying it out to see for myself how special and awesome it is.

That's a definite pics or it didn't happen for me. He must have been standing completely still or AFK.
As for the weapon, it's still very situational and skill based if you ask me. There's little question it needed more damage at short range and a longer/wider optimal. The RRs long (or short!) range and high DPS needed a counter, it was crazy. Additionally, just like with the old QQ about the ScR, I see no problem with a weapon being devastating if you use it properly AND skill it up to proto AND skill a particular suit up to proto all at the same time. That's the whole point of Dust, isn't it? Specializing into a certain role to maximize your effectiveness?
That said, yes You can make an argument that in terms of niches the LR should certainly start being effective at 30 (which if you ask me is still true) but it should still be able to do something at short range, which it previously did not, and there absolutely needed to be a damage increase with tiers as well. There was really no point to using any but the std before.

I guess it was only a matter of time...
